Cooking a nutritious meal and embracing family rituals.

I love collecting cookbooks, especially when traveling. Bringing healthy, fresh, cultural experiences to the table.

I’ve studied nutrition in-depth. Therapeutic Nutrition Program - how foods impact the body, mind, and emotions to support healing. Studied at the College of Ayurveda - holistic medicine and nutrition. Nutrition courses with Cornell University. Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Program on functional medicine, lifestyle, and nutrition. The Applied School of Functional Medicine for functional medicine and nutrition. And currently, Rockwell College Doctor of Nutritional Medicine Program. But, with all of that, I probably will never stop educating myself. Why? Because nutrition is extremely in-depth, ever evolving, and there is so much that must be applied by me to grasp and understand. It’s always humbling, scientific, yet intuitive.

Diets can shift and change through marketing. Nutritional medicine is vastly bio individualized. And, I’ve been there, jumped on many fad trains in my career, but one thing that always comes back into balance is the foundation - whole foods, rich in nutrients, healthy ratios of protein, fat, carbohydrates, providing the body adequate macro-vitamins, micronutrients, and trace minerals.

The focus I am going deeper into with my research and work. The rituals behind whole food, community, family, and culture. Returning to our ancestors’ way of providing nutrients to the body. Culturally embracing and learning regenerative farming, understanding the biodiversity of soil that creates and preserves the dense nutrients of whole foods.

Let’s not forget the sensory stimulation and appreciation we develop through knowing where our food comes from. Cooking a nutritious meal and embracing family rituals. Gathering around the table with gratitude and prayer. Often rare and long forgotten.

Question is? How can you, as a family, return to the table with a nutritious meal in gratitude and prayer?

It might be one or two nights per week. Taking small steps towards returning to our ancestors' ways. The rituals around food and our connection to the nutrients it provides for the mind and body.
